Time to go now...

So there we go… holiday is over! Make sure you arrive at least 1,5 – 2 hours before your flight.

Larnaca Airport:

As you arrive at the airport to depart back home, pick up your baggage, sulking face and tanned behind, and make your way to the check-in area which is positioned as soon as you enter the airport from the right entrances (left entrance is for arrivals but don’t worry if you came in from the left since everything is connected in a large open plan space).

If you have some money left (good on you!) and you need to exchange it to your local currency (e.g British pounds), there is a bank branch which is operated within the airport (as soon as you enter the airport- on your left).

In the check-in area, locate your check-in counter (there are screens above each counter). Queue and be patient (during the high season and for popular flights back to the UK this could take up to 40 minutes!).

As soon as you have checked in, follow the signs to the departures area. The entrance is located to the far right of the airport. You will go through the following checkpoints:

1)      Show your boarding pass to enter the departures area (1 second)

2)      Show your passport/ID and boarding pass (3 counters- could be a small to medium queue – average time 3-8 minutes)

 3)      Go through hand baggage and passenger security check (2 machines- slightly larger queue- average time 3-15 minutes)

Once that is over with you have entered the Departures area.

The gates (I think there are only eight all in all) are easy to find by just following the signs. There is quite a large and nice Duty free shop, kiosks, a Sbarro for light snacks, a Burger King for the hungry, a café/bar (to your right) which is also the smoking area and a coffee bar/stand.

Make sure you check the screens to see from which gate you are departing.

Toilets are located near the café/bar (smoking area) and also after the last gate. Once you reach your gate, you will show your passport and boarding pass and you can sit in the waiting area. A bus will arrive to take you to your plane.

Have a nice flight back!

Paphos airport:

Procedures are fairly similar so no use in jabbering about all that again!
